Safety & Production Upgrades
for
Australian Reinforcing Company (ARC)
Specialist electrical upgrades including Category 3 safety guarding and SICK safety radar installation for one of Australia's largest steel reinforcement production facilities in Forrestfield.

Overview
The Australian Reinforcing Company (ARC) brings nearly 90 years of experience in the steel reinforcement industry and operates one of the largest cut-to-length reo bar processing lines in Western Australia from their Forrestfield facility. The site houses a comprehensive array of bending and mesh machines serving both the building and regional industries.
CPR Electrical provides supplementary electrical support for ARC's production facility, delivering safety upgrades and specialised installations that meet the high standards of this industry leader.
Scope of Work
• Safety guarding of entire cut-to-length line to Category 3
• Installation of SICK Safety Radar detection unit on mobile bending transfer table
• Ongoing electrical support for production facility
• Production equipment maintenance and fault diagnosis

Challenges & Solutions
Challenge
Upgrading safety systems on active production lines required careful planning to maintain output while implementing Category 3 safety guarding across the entire cut-to-length line without disrupting ARC's continuous production schedule. The Forrestfield facility houses one of Western Australia's largest reo bar processing lines, meaning any extended downtime would impact reinforcement supply to construction projects across the state. Integrating a SICK Safety Radar system on the mobile bending transfer table added further technical complexity to the safety upgrade scope.
Solution
CPR designed and executed a phased safety upgrade program, installing Category 3 compliant guarding progressively along the production line during scheduled maintenance windows to avoid impacting production throughput. We also integrated a SICK Safety Radar detection unit on the mobile bending transfer table, providing advanced zone-based operator protection during material handling operations. The phased approach delivered full safety compliance across the entire cut-to-length line without requiring any extended production shutdowns.
Project Outcome
Full Category 3 safety compliance achieved across the cut-to-length production line, along with advanced radar safety detection on the bending transfer table — delivering enhanced worker protection without impacting production throughput.
