Challenge
Executing major electrical works in a regional South West location while the existing cold storage facility remained fully operational presented significant logistical and coordination hurdles. Managing interfaces with multiple concurrent contractors — including refrigeration, civil and mechanical trades — added further complexity to the construction schedule. The extension required integration with the existing switchboard and power distribution system without compromising the live cold chain operation.
Solution
CPR adopted a flexible schedule, utilising overtime and weekend shifts to perform disruptive works outside of peak operational hours, ensuring the client's meat processing production remained unaffected throughout the extension build. Our team coordinated closely with the head contractor and refrigeration engineers to sequence electrical connections and switchovers safely, maintaining the cold chain integrity at every stage of the project.
Project Outcome
The extension was successfully commissioned on time and within budget. The seamless integration of new systems has bolstered the facility's processing capabilities with zero unplanned downtime.
