Overview
CPR Electrical designed and built a new Light and Small Power Switch Room for SpaceFrame, working on behalf of Powins to ultimately serve Western Power's Kalbarri Reliability Project. The switch room supports the region's new solar farm operations, ensuring reliable power distribution and environmental control for critical electrical infrastructure.
The project involved supplying and installing 16 air conditioning units to maintain optimal conditions for sensitive electrical equipment, plus 36 general power light fittings — demonstrating CPR's capability in delivering turnkey electrical solutions for renewable energy infrastructure in regional Western Australia.

Challenges & Solutions
Challenge
Delivering a purpose-built switch room in a remote regional location required extensive logistics coordination for transporting specialised equipment and materials to Kalbarri, approximately 550 kilometres north of Perth. The switch room's environmental controls had to be capable of handling the region's extreme temperatures, which regularly exceed 40°C in summer, to protect sensitive electrical switchgear and distribution equipment from thermal damage.
Solution
CPR managed the full design-and-construct scope from Perth, coordinating material procurement, transport logistics and deployment of an experienced installation team to Kalbarri. The 16 air conditioning units were specified and installed to maintain equipment-safe operating temperatures in the harsh regional climate, with redundancy built in to ensure continuous cooling under worst-case conditions. The switch room was delivered on schedule, commissioned and handed over ready for integration with the solar farm infrastructure.
